ModeratorJust wondering how anyone else gets on fitting new fan motors to Rangemaster ovens. The motors now come complete and ready to fit (pn: A097769) but there is no hole to locate the stud in the oven rear panel. I usually have to build up the new motor using the old mounting plate but its a lot of flaffing around and sometimes needs the wires to be extended.

Must have fitted around 80 plus fan motors to Rangemasters in last year and never had a problem.
Not sure which stud you are discussing, there is no locating stud on latest style motors (large rear bearing). Have just unboxed one to verify no stud.
Get the motor in the correct plane, slide the plate into one corner line up the three stud with the holes and OK.Regards

ps Make sure you are getting the latest motors (from Novemberish last year). You can tell by the enclosed large rear bearing. The old units had an open bush and failed rapidly.September 5, 2007 at 8:36 pm #226694Lawrence

The stub that Mark is refering to is a little soft metal lug I have been changing the plate like Mark apart from a couple where they broke 😉
I will ask Rangemaster tommorow if I get a chance

Definitely no lug on the plate on the motors we have in stock, just checked again.

CookerfitCookerfit you are missing the point, the stud is on the oven rear and seems to be a threaded stud like the ones that the fan element screw in to. This one however has no screw and seems to have no function other than maybe some kind of vent. the old motors had a hole in the mounting plate to locate this stud while the new, large bearing ones dont. every rangemaster i have ever done seems to have this stud so its amazing you have done 80 odd and not come across one!

I’ve seen this as well and had to change the plate and adjust the wires

ParticipantNo need for the lug anymore so just remove it from the cookerit was just there to make sure the fan was fitted correctly, just grab it with a pair of grips and remove it.
