Hi, has anyone solved a Rangemaster induction hob problem that has thrown up the E4 error?

Two of the rings are giving the error code, but they don’t get their feed from the same pcb.

The customer told me they’ve had a firm out that threw 500 quids worth of parts at it, but to no avail. It would’ve helped me if I knew which parts had been exchanged.

The coils on the rings are fine, and the power pcb’s are good (swapped them over….same issue on the same rings).

I swapped around the potentiometers but again, the same rings gave the E4 error code.

I also tested the continuity of each of the wires that connects the PCBs and rings to each other.

I secured the connections on the terminal block, and tested for voltage to each PCB.

So, I’m left with the user interface PCB, or, an incorrectly wired part from the previous guys.

Any ideas? Also, can anyone pass me on Rangemaster’s Tel: number please?

May be a longshot but I had a fault like this a few years back. It turned out to be the white plug at the rear of the hob. The one you would disconnect to remove the hob. The pins were pushing out of the plastic plug when the male and female parts were pushed together. This gave me E4 on 3 rings and took a while to find it.

Thanks Baz, I’ll look for that when I’m back.

Don’t suppose anyone can give me Rangemaster tech support’s phone number?
