ParticipantWe have a Rangemaster Professional 110 Ceramic hob electric oven which we bought secondhand 8 years ago but which had hardly been used.
The left hand (non fan assisted) oven has never been brilliant and I have always put this down to it not being a fan oven. However, just lately it has got worse and never seems to get hot enough. Yesterday I put it on for about half an hour and it had only got to 140 degrees.
Is the fault likely to be the element, or the thermostat? As element has two coils I am wondering if one could be dead.
Thanks.

It’ll be an element most probably but I think you may be looking at it the wrong way. There should be an upper element, almost always doubles as a grill element and a lower one you can’t see under the base.
Either gone on a static oven can give what you describe.

Thanks. The grill is separate and is above the left-hand oven. I can’t see a lower element, so, if there is one, it must be under the metal floor of the oven. Perhaps I should take the back off and see if there are any connectors visible there from a lower element.

There should be on there but, you won’t see it.

Thanks. A job for the weekend. Are there resistance readings available for the elements?

Nope.
Either it is open circuit or mot pretty much.

Ok. I have read typically 20-30 ohms is good, so effectively open circuit.

Replacement then.
If you get Dave on spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk he’ll sort it out for you.

Sorry, my last post should have read closed circuit.
I have just tested the elements this evening and I got the following readings: –
Bottom element – 52 ohms.
Middle top element – 44 ohms.
Outer top element – open circuit.New top element required.
