Rangemaster Professional+FXP vs Falcon Continental 900S

Judging from their website, I’m guessing the Rangemaster Professional FX is very new. I have read all the threads comparing Rangemaster to Falcon and it seems to come down to price, which is exactly my dilemma. I have found that the Rangemaster IS available here in New Zealand, and while both are expensive, the Falcon is close to double the price. This Rangemaster seems to be a copy of the Falcon 900S, both have that optional split oven feature that I love. My local sales rep is adament that the Falcon is so much better and I should look at Smeg instead of the Rangemaster, but that is not what I read here from all the experts.

I cook and bake a lot and want great quality and reliability (don’t we all?) so what do you all think? Anyone familiar with these two models and do you think the Rangemaster a reasonable alternative to Falcon based on the huge price difference? (NZ$5800 vs NZ$10,000)

I service and repair both Rangemaster and Falcon under warranty here in the UK, the split oven 900 is a new model, the main difference between the 2 versions is the quality in finish and the hobs, are you considering a Gas hob or Induction hob as both hob types are so much more better in the Falcon brand than Rangemaster.

The quality of the finish on the door and facia as well as oven furniture again is much better on the Falcon brand, as far as SMEG is concerned I have worked on their products for many years and is not a patch on Rangemaster or Falcon HTH 😀

Thanks for your reply, Dave. It’s good to know that both are reliable units and certainly better than the Smeg. I could pretty much see that for myself just from the way all of the them are built.

So I purchased the Rangemaster Professional+FX just yesterday! The Falcon and Rangemaster ovens are the same and not having a window on the door was a big concern. Also I prefer the gas hob layout on the Rangemaster, so I couldn’t see paying double for an extra beefy hob that I don’t need on the Falcon.

So decision made and now I am just waiting for installation!
