ParticipantThis is a dual fuel range that blew the trip….on inspection a component had blown and dropped into the main oven selector switch. The question is what the heck is the component? It piggybacks with wires onto the warming plate ‘hot’ neon at the right hand end but there’s almost nothing left of it to identify save for a small blob of metal on the end of each wire!
Any ideas?June 25, 2009 at 7:26 pm #290238funkyboogy

Well the neon certainly appears to be part of the hob but that has two wires to supply it and the component that ‘let go’ piggybacks onto the harness at the neon terminals so if anything it might come with the harness but the parts diagram doesn’t seem to show anything.
Just had a thought….if anyone has a wiring or connection diagram i could follow the circuit to find out what it was?

common problem with these lately…supposedly due to lead free solder that they now have to use due to EU regulations…the solder just does not stick as it should, wires drop off fall wherever and go bang!
Order a new warming plate and all will be well!June 25, 2009 at 10:06 pm #290241clivejameson

Two wires go from the warming plate neon to the warming plate (element) where they are attached by solder…when the solder comes off the wires drop down earth out and go bang! does this answer your question?

Ahhhh that explains it! Do you have a part number for that element please? (the diagrams are far from clear!)

Or is the element integral to the ceramic top/hob?
