I wanted to make this clear from the get go on rapport stuff as it is right now so:

    ***WARNING***

What we have released is an beta of the very core of the system, it is as basic as basic can be at the moment for several reasons but, it is nowhere near where it will be in a few months. And, given that in large part I have designed the system, the logic, automation and a lot of the feel, you can take that as straight from the horse’s mouth.

    It is a beta.

    It is limited.

It is not even remotely close to fully featured.

It is suitable for those that have no customer database at all.

If you have your customers in a CSV or Excell etc. format we can set up an import routine for you. I’m not saying we’ll do it in a day, a week or whatever, but it can be done.

It is not suitable for people that currently run other software in all likliehood as the features on those more developed systems will be better, because we’ve not enabled even close to half of rapport.

That isn’t to say you can’t download it and play about with it, by all means feel free to do so but you will almost immediately notice a number of key elements that aren’t there. This is very deliberate.

There’s a lot more in rapport stock control as that’s the one we were forced to concentrate on due to internal requirements. We needed stock control first as we already run a call handling system for ISE and Amica that we built.

We use the stock control internally for stock on Amica now, it’s live and in use.

The commercial version of call handling that is designed for manufacturers etc. I may make available, I’ve not made up my mind on that yet quite frankly. And, it wouldn’t be free as there’s far too much clever stuff in that which has been designed specifically for the task.

Which brings me to the biggest reason that all the features aren’t there in stock control and call handling.

    It’s magic.

And, like any good magician, I’m not going to tell the secrets of how the magic is done or even give you a heads up on the results of the trick/s. 🙂

I’m also not going to tell the competition what I’m going to do next just as I am not going explain how it’s done.

One reason for that is that I’ve spent years designing the logic and algorithms to be able to do all the stuff we’ll be able to do. It’s not easy and it’s not easy to replicate, especially all the things that you’ll never see or probably even ever know is there, it just works.

And, it’s designed for whitegoods field service. Not plumbers, not heating engineers or anyone else as, to be blunt, I really don’t much care about them or their problems, I’m much more interested in ours.

But, that aside, this is for the troops on the ground. I don’t want this sort of system being replicated by others who then move ahead of the independent repairers. I want you guys to be at the forefront of appliance servicing then keep us all there, where we should be and, should have always been as our service is superior and always has been.

We only fall down on the technology and admin part of the equation really.

We (as a trade) were just never organised enough, too fragmented, in some cases by design. But with the WTA and UKW things have changed. We’re getting much, much better organised.

Now it’s a bit of a mission for me and, in large part always has been by using this site in some ways, to make sure you have the ability not just to compete, but to lead.

What you guys ultimately choose to do with this ability and these tools is entirely up to you.

    K.

Temporary download links are as follows until I sort the ones on the rapport website:

For rapport call handling on Windows machines use this link:

    http://www.rapportsoftware.co.uk/html/z … dalone.zip

On Mac or Linux systems, this one:

    http://www.rapportsoftware.co.uk/html/z … ndling.zip

For stock control on Windows, this link:

    http://www.rapportsoftware.co.uk/html/z … dalone.zip

And on Mac and Linux, this link:

    http://www.rapportsoftware.co.uk/html/z … system.zip

They should all work but I really can’t be bothered to test them all this late. 😉

    Re: rapport Download & Info

    Well…

It’s web based so you can use it on anything that has a browser so you can use it with a tablet or anything you like, so long as you pop the correct address into the browser.

There isn’t, yet, a pukka app for it as such although we do have a very rough test app for the stock control so we could book in and out stock using an iPod but it’s not ready for release by a long way right now. We wanted it on iPods etc. as they’re cheap and it can go on an iPhone, iPad etc. as well.

When I say cheap, cheaper by far than a dedicated barcode scanner or PDA and so on.

    Re: rapport Download & Info

    Hello,

I would like to thank all who participated in the Rapport Call Handling Survey.

    Survey URL:
    http://www.rapportsoftware.co.uk/index.php/survey?source=forums

This is Sudeep Talati, (Software Developer of Rapport Software and PhD student).

I am urgently seeking your help to evaluate my Rapport Call Handling software and your feedback is essential for me to complete my PhD.

Please complete the online survey on my software – Only 10 questions, taking 2 minutes of your time. I promise.

Please be reassured that your feedback is anonymous and so you can be as honest as you wish to be.

Even negative feedback is useful to me as it will help me analyse the software more closely and will be used as guide for improvement in later releases.

I have already 30 responses but unfortunately I need at least 60 as this feedback is not sufficient for my PhD.

Thank you for your time. It is very much appreciated.
