Washing machine has started making a really loud knocking sound on spin cycle. It’s really loud; conversation is impossible in the same room when it’s doing it. It sounds like the drum has come loose and is vibrating against the case but I ran it last night with the lid and back off and although the drum is vibrating (only to be expected) it appears to be well contained. I tried to steady the drum while it was spinning and this didn’t even seem to dampen the noise at all. What is causing this noise?
This is the same machine (Ariston awd12) which I talked about a couple of weeks ago which has a heating fault. I’m confident I’ve diagnosed the element as faulty and a new one is arriving today. Could it be because I’ve had the element out?
If I run it on spin with no load it’s quiet as normal.
