Is it the image or is the earth really been snipped off before entering the plug.

Reminds me of my time in Sunny Spain, they still don’t understand meggers, earthing or ohmns law. 😆

Often drive to Spain and usually put my tools in,we were getting shocks of the washer where we were staying and they called an engineer. He arrived armed with a posi and a neon screwdriver in his top pocket 😯 so I showed him the earth insulation fault plus the two pin plug with no earth,”ah kaputt” he said and off he went.New machine arrived shortly after.
Also the immersion heater which could only be switched off by pulling the fuse, and a newish property.
Don’t like to see folks in the UK with bare feet in the kitchen but it’s almost a death wish in Spain.

Looking at that set up I would think that too much heat would be more likely. 😯

I’m guessing that they had another plug for the motor/timer etc. :rolls:

TVM562P. UNDER WARRANTY! (well… it was)

Call out to it because it was tripping out occasionally, and now constantly tripping the fusebox (i wonder why?)

1/ stats were replaced and still tripped. and so they were bypassed.

2/ hole drilled in top of the casing (for ventilation? or maybe just where he originally planned to route the additional mains cable)

3/ heater cut apart – theres only actually half of coils left, and one bit of mica is missing

4/ inside the plug, 4core was used, 2 wires to live pin, but only one to the coils of element, one neutral to neutral, and earth wasnt connected to anything at either end

5/ you cant see it in the pic but where the cable enters the outer case, its been cut into buy the sheet metal from the hole.

    And the actual fault????

one of then (f) spades in the plastic snap-on heater loom joint was a little too open and loose, so was shorting across it. noticeable by the burn marks. a quick crimp with LNP, and a £50 new element and a £30 back element case and it was working good as new.

daft this is it shouldnt have cos anythign to sort!

I shadowed an Engineer who spat on his wrist, then placed it onto the inner side of a D/W door to measure if there was any leakage, he invited me to try, which I declined.

Aparantly the coastal humidity causes it. 😯

The office sent out a memo concerning a fault on an induction hob, it explained how to use the insulation tester and how to request a tester sent to each centre as required.

They also managed to repair any appliance with only a small screwdriver and a pair of long nose pliers. ❓
