My current Whirlpool ‘American style’ fridge freezer is reaching the point where it’s clicking or bleeping more than it’s quiet and as the repair seems more expensive than a new unit it’s time to go shopping. 8)

I like the american ‘side by side’ style and this is the floor and height space I have to fit the replacement unit/units in but I’m going to spec a unit WITHOUT ice/water this time as i don’t think it’s worth the loss of freezer space.

The problem is going to be the budget I’d like it to come in under £600 but can push this a little if REALLY required, I know the usual responce is going to be ‘buy something for £3000 and it’ll last a lot longer’ but in reality if a £500 unit lasts 5 years thats a 30 year break even point, and sod the landfill. 😳

The only hard and fast rule is no WHIRLPOOL or any of their other tradeing names. 😉
Looking round it seems the Korens are the only players left are they pretty much the same as each other?

Is it a gamble on what I can find on special offer or is there any left field ideas that might fit the bill?

    Re: Recommend a Fridge/Freezer

    Hi

It doesn`t matter who replies everyone will say the same “avoid the Koreans” ie Samsung, Daewoo, LG etc like the plague. However these are the only machines that will fall into your price range. A read of this thread which had nearly 4000 views may help along with this our buying guide may go towards answering your post.

At the end of the day yes you can go budget end or you can go with someone like GE, Maytag, Amana etc, and have an appliance which will last a lot longer
