Our Miele Prestige Plus 6 has suddenly started to blow a fuse when powered on. Not sure what the problem is but it’s probably a good 10 years old now so not sure it’s worth spending the money to have it looked at given the price of newer machines nowadays?
Which of the lower end Miele models are worth a look at the moment? I can stretch a bit more if it’s worth the extra investment
Costco have the Miele WSD323. Not sure where in the current line up that model sits.
What are LG like and any models to recommend ? There are so many brands at under £500 its a bit bewildering.
Main requirements are simple reliable washer ~ 8kg, direct or brushless motor preferably

Miele are still the best engineered machine there is, granted the spares are more expensive than most and the service is restricted to their own service agents but all that said they are the best.

Hi, I think the heating element has gone. I managed to get the machine on again and I think it blows the fuse when it starts to heat.
Does anyone know how do I get into the W562 to get access to the heating element. Does the front come off or is it all accessed from the rear? Is there any service manuals for it or teardowns on how to get access?
I figured it’s worth giving a go for the price of an element. Might save it from washing machine heaven !

I must say im not a fan of the new cheaper mieles sadly they have gone down in quality and design but just my humble view.
I spoke to Miele who said their WED25 model was the same as the Costco Miele WSD323 aside from the colour of the door.
Miele offered to repair mine for £249 all in. If the engineer felt it was beyond economic repair then I did not have to pay the £249 if I ordered a new machine direct from Miele.
I also went to Costco to have a look around and must say the Haier machines looked and felt quite impressive. Those machines seemed a cut above everything else I have seen so far !

Hi, I decided to give the old machine a go today. I have managed to sucessfully strip it down this morning. The machine is immaculate on the outside and even more so on the inside. Typical German engineering and everything comes off systematically and easily enough.
I went into service menu and it indicates 2 short flashes – NTC sensor open circuit
The sensor had some surface calcium deposits but otherwise looked ok. I proceeded to remove the element. The element looks totally shot – visibly defo has had it. I also ordered some Suspa dampers via Amazon and they arrive today courtesy of Prime ! I noticed in the machine one side looked a little soft so they were cheap enough and ordered a pair while I am at it.

One thing I saw on Youtube was one chap decided to lift the drum suspending coils by one notch all round. Is it worth doing that after I have installed the new dampers ? My machine is 12 years old.
Ok quick update. The parts arrived but ended waiting on the Temp sensor for nearly a week. Anyway all fitted yesterday. I applied some silicon to the seal and fixed it all up and let it cure for 24hrs.
I ended up re-using the original seal as it felt far better quality than the cheap replacement which looked like it was guaranteed to leak :rolleyes:
Part re-assembled the machine today to check if it works and it does ! No blown fuses or trips so far 😀
I gave it a test run on a 60C wash and am now doing a 95C service wash. I think the new element is heating up the water far better than the old one was doing and the initial wash was quite impressive.
I’ve slid some tissue paper in the recess area under the drum and seal area and so far it’s been bone dry during the washes. I will give it a 3rd run on a 95C wash and will then take off the front again and visually check for any leaks. Hopefully there will be none and I can then complete re-assembly.
I must say this is turning out to be a very enjoyable repair !!!
I also checked the bushes on the motor while I had it stripped down. There was plenty of life in them. If that’s the wear after 10 years then this machine probably has another 10 years left in it easily. Wow, really impressed with Miele 🙂
