Could someone recommend a good quality clothing iron? I do quite a bit of sewing and generally wear suits and expensive white shirts, so, I cannot afford to just buy something random that might end up staining or otherwise damaging fabric due to developing problems. P.S. I prefer low-tech in as much as possible, devices have far too many completely unnecessary extras built in nowadays, just more things that can go wrong, and I hate LED displays etc. Thanks

If you pick a good make then you have a better chance of getting a quality product

I have a bosch base station iron and i think its great but Tefal are also ok and you cn get spares for both unlike irons like Morphy Richards when spares are not available like most Chinese imports

Cheers, I’ll look into Bosch. I had been eyeing a Philips and a Tefal. Though I think I might try to find a dry iron model, as most of the problems that arise seem to be due to the water reservoir, so, just using a spray bottle instead would prevent most.

be careful with the philips. not sure if its all of them but the dont make the steam in the base and just pump water to the iron. had a few where the water pipe is blocked thereby scrapping the iron

Bosch currently do not list a steam generator only half a dozen standard irons.

Best current guide to generators I can find is here and as already mentioned Tefal feature strongly.
