ParticipantHi
I’m on a budget and looking for a new gas hob, built into the worktop and an electric fan cooker with grill option to go underneath. Ideally in silver, to match my new kitchen colour scheme.I would like something which is decent, solid and to last good a good time, whichout spending £££ more than necessary.
I don’t know how much these things cost to be honest. I had thought maximum of £150 for the hob and £250 for the cooker. Any brands/ models which can be recommended would be much appreciated thank you.

Hi sec79
Sorry to blow you out of the water but you will not get a decent oven which will last say ten years for that sort of budget for a single oven in stainless or brushed steel. Sure you will find quite a few products for that money but it will be budget brands. This link gives you a guide of cooking products, while this one sorts out the brands behind the names.
Neff is always regarded as a good all round brand for quality, reliability and and for having a two year warranty as well. Single ovens in steel start with the B12M42N0GB, a quick google search says it can be purchased for £363.00. A four burner matching hob starts with the T2124N1EU at £143. So by upping the budget by around a hundred and ten pounds you will get a quality appliance and if looked after it should give years of good service.

Thanks for your reply. The NeffT 2124 seems to have been discontinued now, and the reviews I read commented that this model was hard to clean, and the pan grips kept breaking off.
Would you please be able to recommend other makes/ models? My budget is about £160.
I have found a good deal for the Neff oven which you recommended, and I will be buying this soon.
thankyou

Don is totally correct, even the suggestions I’d regard as being budget options for an oven and hob.
Stick to the major names in that arena and you’ll get pretty much as good as you can get for the money. Cut it and go for the lesser known brands and the longevity and performance will take a tumble.
If you want something that won’t break and will perform well you’re looking at parting with considerably more cash. Sorry, but that’s the reality.
However what’s the use for the oven and hob? Do you actually cook on them or just reheat stuff? How many people are you cooking for? What sort of cooking is what I’m basically trying to get a handle on as that has more bearing than price or anything else unless you are constrained into a certain size etc.
