ParticipantHi,
I found some old post but nothing recent so I thought I’d ask again.
We have an old bosch washign machine which isn’t wasning very well and to compound it the program dial just started to die over the weekend. So time for anew machine.
However the current machine has a cupboard door over it to make it blend in better and we’d like to keep this. The old machine is 580mm deep and I really only have an absolute max of 585mm deep to play with, <=580mm would be better.
So this seems to rule out a vast chunk of machines, including the Miele W5740 which looked a very good deal at Leekes for £799
Top end models that seem to fit would be:
ISE 10 at 585mm £899, 10 year guarantee, 8kg drum
Miele W3204 at 580mm ~£630 and up, 5 year guarentee, 6kg drumAnyone have any recommendations for mid and low price machines so I can compare?
or anyone have any cunning ideas how to get a list of depths without wading through each and every model out there!
Cheers

Hi
The only way would be to take a tape measure around Comet and Currys as they have the largest selection between them.
To get you started I’ll throw in a few suggestions 😉
Bottom end, Beko wm5101 5kg 1000 spin, total depth 47.5cm, price circa £199. Not a bad basic machine short life span of around 3 years.
Indesit WIXE127 6kg 1200 spin, depth 53cm, price circa £269. Not as good as they used to be. Life span 4-6 years.
Mid range Bosch WAE24166 6kg 1200 spin, depth 57cm, price around £359, two year warranty. Our best selling brand for the last four years, life span 7-9 years.
Premium machines as you say the Miele cabinet is 58cm prices can vary from £730 to over 1k. Guarantees vary from 2 to 10 years depending on model purchased. Great build machines long life expectancy of a good 15 years or more.Only downsides are the high price of spares and the lack of tech info available to the independant repairers.
ISE10 made to exacting standards with a high life expectancy of around 20 years. Full ten year warranty and reasonable priced spare parts make these machines the most cost effective solution over the longer term. repairs are carried out by local independant engineers.
HTH 🙂

Cheers,
very helpful, its not too hard to find shallow machines like you say quite a mix at currys/comet, just hard knowing which ones are any good!
Any comment on the LG direct drive machines with 2yr guarantee/10 year on the motor? like the LG F1273TDP, £499 at currys.

You really need to be looking at £350 plus for anything with a decent lifespan.
