I’m trying to find out how I can recondition a 1950s retro style fridge (original not modern repro) Are there companies that do this? Has anyone any ideas? Many thanks. Susie

Interesting idea. The mechanics of the old ones are pretty straight forward and wouldn’t represent a technical problem to an engineer. Any trim or manufacturer specific component would most likely prove a struggle after this length of time.

One other thing to bear in mind is the vastly improved efficiency of modern appliances – the insulation back then wasn’t all that good.

If you check in the Directories section or Repairs@ you should be able to make contact with fridge engineers local to you.
