Can anyone tell me if it’s OK to lay a washing mahine (carefully) on it’s side or back to effect a repair. I am unable to kneel on the floor due to a dodgy knee and my sight’s not what it was.

Providing it’s on the soap dispenser side it will be ok

What do need to repair on the machine??

    Hi
I’m replacing the carbon brushes – again. Why the soap dispenser side?

Exactly what make of machine do you have. Certain machines can be laid backwards to replace brushes if you lower them down gently.

It’s a Bosch WFL2450 Maxx. I managed last time just by tilting it, but I’m older and creakier now.

Not the easiest of brushes to change in situ TBH, I would advise removing the motor completely.

I’m 61 and my old knees have suffered from 20 years of football and thirty years of squash ( and still playing 🙂 ) but I still manage.

If it has the small teardrop shaped back panel then if you tilt the machine forwards against a wall and use a small socket and ratchet it is quite easy to remove the motor, just prise it off the drum mountings.

If it has the large full size back then motor removal is a doddle.

    Jim.
