We leave as much as possible with customer, if they have green wheelie bin for cardboard then use that and plastic and polystyrene in the other waste bin.
If we have extra cardboard then we pay a card board recycling company to take it, the plastic and poly is more difficult it uses up space in our skip
💡 manufactures should take it back and re use it, save us the expense.
Polystyrene is a nightmare, light but bulky and almost impossible to compress, it does however offer good protection to most appliances. My understanding is that polystyrene cannot be recycled in any way which is annoying when you consider how much is used. I would like to see cardboard and biodegradable bubblewrap or inflatable biodegradable polythene used more. These are available but unfortunately many companies won’t look at them, at least not for long, as they are a lot more expensive. 🙁
