ParticipantI have had a visit from a company based in cheltenham who cover approx 60 mile radius at the moment, so this may not help everyone.
They recycle all office paper, cardboard etc..
I gave them a sample off the ISE appliance, the plastics wrapping and polystrene from washing machine to see if it can be recycled.
They can handle this waste.
So I thought it might be of some interest to some of you if you have difficulty in getting rid of it. Allowing it to go into your general waste bins it takes up so much space and cost to empty them are expensive.
The costs of the recycling seems to be more cost effective but, I am having it on a trial to see if I can reduce waste costs.
I know most of ukwg members are environmentally friendly bunch and are into the weee stuff and find it difficult to get rid of polystyrene and plastic wrapping, apart from leaving it with the customer, which will eventually go to landfill which is what we all want to avoid and show that we are trying to help the environment.
As we are selling the ISE range and promoting the enviromental benifits this may be something UKWG/ISE could look into.
There must be more companys out there doing this.?
I know there are always cost implications, The quote i have so far is for a 1100 litre bin £2 week for hire, £7 a lift when you want it emptied, now this can vary from weekly to phone when its full. All the cardboard goes into the bin and extra bags for all office waste paper magazines etc @80p a sack, large thick plastic bags are provided for plastic wrapping etc @80p and the polystyrene in the same size large bags @£3.00.
Now most of our waste is either paper, cardboard, plastic and polysyrene, probably the same as everyone else. Looking as these cost should reduce our landfill waste bin by a bit. Its currently @£50. month always going up because of land fill tax.Hope this is of some use.
