Having suffered from an unreliable washer-dryer for too long, and think it’s time to bite the bullet and buy separates.

Being a relatively small house I don’t have massive of space to put a tumbledryer, but do have an underutilised cupboard in the kitchen I could remove. Unfortunately the mains water supply enters the kitchen at this point, as well as various other pipes that travel up /down from the loft, and the washing machines drain! Meaning that whilst being full height (800mm odd) / and width (600), I only have around 480mm depth to play with. Also with all the pipes at the rear it is going to be nigh impossible to find some clear wall big enough to put an air vent.

So what I’m looking for is a condensing tumble dryer ideally with a near full sized drum, BUT a little shallower than the 580mm standard.

The best/only match I can find ATM is the Zanussi TC180W:

Which appears to be quite a lot of money for a very simple compact machine!

Any suggestions, preferrably something that can handle more clothes with a greater energy efficiency.

    TIA – Rufus.

I think because of your limited space availibility you may have to either go for the Zanussi compact dryer or consider alternative locations for a more efficient ‘full-sized’ model or indeed revert to a washer/dryer 🙁

    Hi Rufus

One other alternative would be to have a slim depth washing machine like a Bosch WFC2467GB which is only 40cm deep but has a surprisingly large 4.5kg load and 1200 spin. You can see it here http://tinyurl.com/7qbll Then tumble dryer could go where washer is at present.

Just a case of which way to go really 🙄

Thanks for the suggestion don, hadn’t even thought about moving the washing machine – doh! The Bosch does look interesting, I might try and find one in the flesh to have a prod at.

    Thanks again – Rufus.
