    Hi guys
I have a customer whom has a rather large Fridge freezer, but the compressor needs replacing. As the appliance is 12yrs old it used to run on R12. If I was to fit another compressor would the system work with the new type of gas say R600. I havent had much dealing with the later type gasses, but since new legislation sort of steered away from it. However I still have quite a bit of equipment and I am often asked to repair these products.

    Cheers

If using R134a reduce the gas charge by 10{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} to account for the different working pressure between R12 and R134a systems, and as a final check ensure stat switches off between 3 to zero psi on the gauge.

    Obvious question yet somehow overlooked………….

What are you going to do with the old R12 that is presently in the system?

    Re: Refrigeration gas

Good point I do have an old bottle of R12 which is pretty low on gas and if I remember I used to top it up by freezing the bottle. Then I just need to find whom to dispose to.
