See my posting for C&G 2078 training in the ‘Training’ forum. I had not done system work for many years and the old memory was rusty on the details – but I was given a practical refresher as part of my course (I even took in a scrap fridge with me and reclaimed, recharged and tested it with Jules giving me pointers along the way). Excellent trainer – easy to talk to and he’s flexible to your requirements. Worth a phone call!

    Hope that helps,

    Steve.

Thanks steve ill certainly ring them tomorrow……but I was angling to find out from you experienced guys if any actual certified training is mandatory by law? its nice to get a certificate when someone else is picking up the bill…but as a one man band I have to pay for my own training….and whilst im happy too if necessary im not so keen if its not a mandatory requirement….ive rang training companies before and been told its mandatory this and mandatory that when it actually has not been !!!!!!

No it’s not mandatory yet….BUT… think January 2005 and the Part P fiasco – the queues of electricians trying to qualify to continue working – my father-in-law couldn’t get on a course as they were all over-subscribed and went 3 weeks with his mate having to check his work and sign it off! :rolls:
I got my certification early to avoid any such problem and at just over £200 and 2 days to do it, I considered it well worthwhile. Training is tax deductable as well. You also get to register with A.C.R.I.B as a recognised refrigerant handler. All strings to your bow. 😀

    Hope that answers your questions,

    Steve.

A.C.R.I.B want it applied very soon – probably sometime during 2007. But you know what this government is like – they’ll let you know the night before it’s made law!! :rolls:

Re: Refrigeration repairs your advice please!!!!!

The safe handling of refrigerant gases has been a legal requirement since 1st July 2006. If you are doing system work without it you are breaking the law.

C&G 2078 is enough to comply with current legislation.

Thanks all that contributed to this one…..I have a good Idea of what is required now… also big thanks to Kevin….I contacted John Knutton what a very helpfull chap…..a real pleasure to talk too…..he can provide one on one assesments for C&G 2078…but interestingly this C&G is only required if you handle ozone depleting gassese.g. R12 & R22 but not R134A etc…..

Anyway thanks I can sleep easier now……

Update on the HFC gases then, thats R134a etc…..

From the 7th June 2007 it will be a legal requirement to have safe handling to touch these too. That’ll be a criminal offence by the way.

    Cheers
