What business are you in Tony? Run a Charity Shop do you?
Never heard of such a thing and legally there are no grounds for them to ask for a refund whatsover, and therefore you don’t have to either.
It’s up to you but I personally would show them the door!

There is no commitment or rights for you to give refunds as they have commited to a legal contract to purchase and pay for that item.
if there is no fault then no refund unless you want to charge them a handling fee of 25{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} say.

It is NOT a police matter either, so they will not call on you over a ‘civil’ matter such as this. 😉
So now it seems your customer can be deemed guilty of ‘harrassment’ 💡

The Sale of Goods Act states must be fit for the purpose and of merchantable quality
and this includes all goods if sold by a merchant or trader, the law makes no difference as to the quality of the type of goods i.e. secondhand or new.
as the customers confirm no fault, they have no recourse back to you unless you increased the customers statutory rights by offering some ADDITIONAL guarantee of something like;
“Complete money back if not completely satisfied within 14 days.”
You try doing the same thing in Currys or Comet with a brand new appliance and see have far you get.
One word of warning however, new laws came into effect in Feb 05 which state the onus is on the retailer to prove the items are NOT faulty during the first six months after initial sale, thereafter, it is up to the purchaser to confirm the fault exists.
Tell your customers to do one, your safe.
Regards and festive best wishes
