Looking to replace existing one, ideally with another sensor-controlled one. Reliability the main requirement. Can’t remember what Which? said, but has anyone any suggestions please? Many thanks.

It depends on your budget Newbold.

Normal recommendations would be, steer clear of the cheap stuff, look toward Bosch or similar in that price bracket, if you can stretch to it, go for a Miele 🙂

Hotpoint VTD00 is not a bad one at all, and it has sensordry. However, this is a 6kg machine and requires new bearing on the front approx every 18months if you are a heavy user.

Not a good recommendation at all really then?

The recommendation would be for those on a lower budget who still require reliability. The reliable operation of the machine and the fact that apart from the occasional EASY ‘front bearing change’ this machine rearly becomes problematic and hence you are receiving a good quality product at a lower cost, from a manufacturer that is well known, and for whom I have found that the supply of parts is easy to access and which are also at a cheap price.
