    And I’m one of them!

Got well and truly done today

A guy calls me out Beko Tumble Dryer belt and beko twin solenoid valve on a frozen washing machine, he was desperate as his wife had died and he was raising kids on his own etc.

When I got there he had ‘just gone to the bank’ to get my money but his daughter said I could carry on and do the work, he would be back in 5.

I rang his mobile, no answer, that set the alarm bells ringing so I said I needed to call back later with more spares when he was back from bank.

He rang later apologetic and as desperate as ever, so I called back, he shakes my hand like a best friend and I do the work.

Time for payment and (sigh) his daughter is on her way with the cash, but oh no, when she arrives, can I follow her down to the cash point at asda.

When she gets there, oops, the cash card doesnt work, would you believe it. Back to the house and its all locked up, so I help myself over a small fence into the utility where the machine is. Then Im surrounded by kids pleading with me not to touch the machine as da will beat them when he gets back. Can I call back later when Da’s 7 brothers are back from laying tarmac!

Only a small outlay on my part, and I guess aLL i can do is learn the lesson and move on, but its horrible feeling when someone uses sympathy to screw you in that way! 😳 😡

i know people whod be back round with 10 of their friends and a couple of vans. these are people who give pikeys a bad name, the gypsys round here are pretty decent folk, ok they haggle the price down a bit for cash – we knock off 4{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} as its not thru the card machine, and then end up tipping you for the job*

    *which is obviously refused
