I’m trying to remove the hob top from a Rangemaster 110 combi gas/electirc cooker. Purpose of this is to allow removal of the front panel so I can replace a faulty switch.

I’ve found four screws which allow half of the hob to be lifted upwards. However the right side of the hob remains partly secured, presumebly by screws that I can’t find.

I suspect they may be under the hot plate at the right side but I don’t know how to nor want to remove it unless I have to.

Attached a couple of pictures below.

    Anyone any ideas?

    Thanks everyone.

There are 4 screws along the back quite well hidden once they are out hob tops slide to left and right. The left side you have been able to remove has probably been off before and eng did not put back the 2 screws.

    Hello Kirk,

Many thanks for the reply. Very likely I’m just missing this but I can’t see the 4 screws that you mention.

I’ve looked carefully at the vented panel at the very back of the cooker (got a torch in there), removed the grill plate and checked under the head shielding etc.

If you were standing in front of the cooker looking at the control panel could you describe the location of the screws?

Another thing is I see this and another post mention the hob tops slide to the left and right. I have kitchen worktops either side that would stop this unless I pull the cooker out (really want to avoid that). However – when I removed the visible screws I found the left hob simply lifted (part way at least) around a hinged point at the rear. It certainly didn’t come right off but enough to let me unscrew the front panel retaining screws located underneath the hob on top of the panel.

    Phew!

Anyway really appreciate you’re help. I’ve noticed a fairly recent identical requirement so I’m going to add a message refering the chap to this post. Perhaps with your help we can all find a solution.

Btw, I’m happy to take some snaps of the job and post it up for everyone else to benefit from. IF I can get the job done! 🙂

    Hi
May I just point out a couple of things at this juncture.

Safety first especially with any gas appliances :lesson: and yes I do appreciate that you are attempting to work on the electrical side, but Ive seen it so many times where the gas pipework has been disturbed and caused a risk ❗

Re: Removing hob – Rangemaster 110

    Hello Greg,

    Fair and sensible comment.

My electrical knowledge is sound and importantly I’m comfortable working within my limitations. With your comment in mind perhaps offering up a ‘how to’ on this isn’t a good idea and is something I won’t progress.

I’ve read your links and fully agree with everything therein.

    Thanks for the comments.
