I have.
I let a Whirlpool dude fix a dishwasher as it was under warranty and we all know what the part prices are like but alas, it was the only 45cm integrated I could get at the time.
I also let Craig loose to practice on my oven when the element popped.
Asides from that I generally would DIY it, but then I am supposed to have a clue what I’m doing.
On the other hand, would I touch the car these days… errr, no. I don’t know enough about them and when you lift the bonnet it’s a sheet of plastic that greets you. Old cars, worth a punt, new ones and other things that I know nothing about I tend to leave well alone as there’s nothing as dangerous as someone that thinks they know what they’re doing. Bitter experience has been a good teacher.

Have fixed my own appliances within the years guarantee period a couple of times. Stat on a fridge & dryer motor cap.
Wouldnt put anything on that cost more than a fiver though! 😉

I won’t touch anything I don’t know about these days as I too have learnt some hard lessons over the years.
I won’t get involved in other manufacturers machines as I have no knowledge of the new stuff, Obviously due to my contract with my employer I wouldn’t be allowed to and I respect that. I have several local ‘Independants’ that I recomend if some propositions me for a repair.
I’ll repair my old Hotpoint and thats as far as it goes!! My other machines I can book to warranty and get one of my collegues to repair as I don’t cover the area I live in!! 🙂
