In case you missed it, there’s a new appliance engineer search on the site.
What you may not have sussed, if you missed the conversation above with George, is that there are also now dedicated pages for appliance repairers. This is possible now due to the new platform or, rather it’s a LOT easier to do and to manage than once it was.
The example I use is my own repair business, NW Appliance Repairs, just click it to see the basics of what can be done.
The engineer search can be found here
You can see what’s been done for yourselves and if anyone wants to talk about it then please just post here, PM me, email me… whatever.
You can have a page like that, completely free of charge, I’m not looking to make money out it much to the annoyance of some people if you are a TA member, an ISE dealer with over 12 months worth of service or you were on the old repairs@ service. Just send me what you want there and I’ll format it and get it online.
Images can be inserted easily, such as pics of vans, premises, products… just about anything that is tasteful.
BTW, I’m the judge and jury on what qualifies as “tasteful”. 😆
If you haven’t got any sort of website at all, here’s your chance to get a free business card online. TBH, you’d be a complete idiot not to do it as anything you get from it is a bonus.
If you have a website and know anything about anything to do with the internet you’ll know how valuable backlinks are. Backlinks, especially one way ones, from a site like UKW are pretty valuable and, again, you’d be a bit of a muppet not to take up a free offer to advertise your business for free never mind the potential traffic boost.
If you need help or have any questions, for pity’s sake ASK!
The catch or catches!
Well the catch is I don’t really want to be promoting sites that lead to another flogging spares. It’s how I make a living and UKW pays for all this free stuff for the repairers so, I’d ask you kindly not to take the proverbial. I think that’s fair.
I do mean dedicated spares sites, if you sell a few bits or whatever just ask me about it and I promise not to bite.
I would also ask that you give as much info about what you do and where as possible. If you sell products, are authorised service, major on particular brands and so on then say so. I can add as much or as little as you give me but I’d rather it was as complete as possible.
In time, with the development that we’re doing, you’ll see where all this is going and for you guys I hope it’s a win. I also still stand by one of the core founding principals of UKW, these services to the small independent repairers will remain completely free of charge.

I can’t remember when I last got a repairs@ service call request but it was several years ago IIRC. I would like to know if anyone has had any work from such a great FREE facility of late?
Lots of indies posting and helping out joe public in the public forums but very few bother even to suggest contacting a local repair guy. To most it never occurs to them anyay though it is blatantly obvious that many of the public haven’t a ruddy clue how to fix their machines.
When I see an opportunity to direct work YOUR way I do so and I do it on a regular basis. Especially regarding my specialist subject, i.e BOSCH), so have you had any Bosch work come your way lately from Repairs@ ???
Look out for my latest offering that may come your way? 😉

I got three last month … One for Bosch, one for Servis and one for Indesit.
That is the ones I know of… The ones that have said that they have come from UKW.

And I can tell you that there’s work going on to make that facility better.
Can’t give you a release date for it right now but it shouldn’t be too long before it’s ready.
The problem is with the way it is now, is that you can’t see if the call actually came from the site, it’d probably just be a random phone call or email enquiry since the demise of the old system. I wanted to change that, so I will.
Also there’s been very little promotion of the facility due to the limited nature of it. Again, that should change in time.
The new one allows you to control some of the administration and how your company is promoted from memory but I’ll have a lot more detail on that for when it’s cooked and ready to be served.
WTA members will be highlighted and, for the time being, will be ranked higher than non-TA members. More to come on that front in time.
Control of the account will be linked to your forum user account. If we get people (and there’s a few) that don’t log in for months then they will drop off the system or drop in ranking. The thinking being that the people most active on the site get the most out it. Customers will also possibly get to see the number of forum pasts made by the account which shows them the level of involvement that the account holder has with the site.
All good stuff really and yet another reason for being forced to move to a new platform as this stuff simply would not have been possible on the old Nuke system.
