You might have noticed that the repairs@ module is no more if you’ve been prodding about the site.
The reason is that the code was incompatible with the new platform and it would have taken a fair old bit of coding to make it work on the new one. It wasn’t worth the effort and that will make sense in a minute as you read this.
Repairs@ was designed by yours truly circa 2004/5 and implemented in 2005 it was past it’s prime. It was good and I know a number of you (myself included) got a good few jobs out of it but I always thought it could do more.
So I designed a new one. 🙂
Only better.
However what I want it to do goes way beyond what the old one could ever hope to do and, to get it online, I needed the new platform.
Over the next few months we’re going to be working on it as, it’s extensive, it’ll take a truckload of work and it’s complex at the backend as well as having to integrate to the Joomla platform.
I had a choice to make;
Put off the upgrade until the new module was coded.
Implement the changes and then do repairs@.
You can see how I decided to go. I thought that the changes to the forums and the speed bump was worth the offline time for repairs@. But that’s not quite the whole story. Obviously.
Plus I didn’t want to waste precious money, time and effort just converting something that was past its sell-by date.
For the time being I’m getting the list of repairers transferred onto a simple search as implemented on the ISE and WTA site, I hope that will be live by week’s end. This buys me time to work on the revamp of repairs@ only, it won’t be called that when it returns as it’s a whole new thing, what the old repairs@ module did is only a part of what I want it to do.
When it gets close to ready I’ll give you more info but, for now, that’s the position with it.

Try not to bombard me please and, I’ll probably regret this but…
If you want any extended text on the listing done, it tidied up or whatever then please let me know and I’ll edit it.
I will be doing something a bit funky with the WTA logo for TA members. More once I suss out how to add it.

Email gives you the funky little email logo“Featured” is reserved for WTA members for the moment, I need to talk to someone at DASA about it to extend it to DASA members as well.

That is the same as the other one, if I enter my own postcode then my details do not appear.
A certain individual who took £30 of a customer over 3 weeks ago and told the customer he would order a readily available Hotpoint door seal but refuses to even answer the customers phones calls comes up though. :rolls: 😈

This is what I get if I enter my own or my near neighbours post code.
I haven’t highlighted the spanner but I can assure you it is not me. My little spanner is nowhere to be seen.

It should really be updated but, for the moment until I sort everything out (which will take months) it’ll have to do so I can say that everything is hunky dory.

Been messing with that module a bit. Got it to look better I reckon and for some stuff to work!
I can’t seem to get the extended data to work but I fixed Martin’s mobile thing and worked out how to add mobiles and faxes so they look right.
However, if you don’t tell me the listing is incorrect, it won’t get fixed, Like a couple I picked at random who happen to be people I know and just sorted them.
No worries George, I’ll sort that.
