ParticipantHi, I’ve just purchased a replacement heating element for a Hotpoint Optima CTD80 (C00145747).
The one I am replacing has 2 orange wires to one thermostat and blue wires to the second (orange to 5 contact connector and element, blue to heating element and a single spade connector). The replacement has the 2 thermostats linked and only orange wires.
Leaving blue wires un-connected does not work, using original method without link wire and dryer works for 1 minute then stops. Any suggestions on how I should proceed?
Regards

Yes, get the correct heater assembly, there are four different types, not interchangeable.
NB, there is only one stat, the other is an ntc. 😉
Full serial number needed to ID.

Hi iadom
Thank you for replying. I purchased the assembly suggested by UK Whitegoods following a request for information. There was no mention of variations!I guess I need to contact them again about an exchange! Unless any other solutions forthcoming from this community.
Regards

But you have only just become a member since yesterday and have never posed the question before.

You need C00260045. From serial number 71112.0000 the one shot was moved to the neutral circuit.

Cheers Martin, I wonder if the heating elements are the same on both models?

Both models ❓ there is only one model of CTD80 with three colour variations, the spec for the heater and components used has been changed four times though.

Doubt it, Hotpoint’s purpose in life is to confuse us all.:rolls:

Un-surprising!
My thought was simply replace the new stat and ntc with the original components as they are still working, (only the elements were damaged). Seems simple but…!
