ParticipantI am thinking of replacing my 14 year old Stove 900 GTF.MY wife complains that the oven is too slow and that the grill is next t useless its so slow.I am wondering whether the gas supply is weak but my gas hobs run ok or whether I’d be better of with electric oven but then I would have to find out whether there is a supply at the back, Putting all that to one side is there a make/ model gas oven you could recommend .? Thanks

HiNot much choice nowadays I`m afraid, it`s all electric fan ovens, which I must admit are really good. Stoves are about the only ones who still produce a double built in oven. The new model would be the 900GDO.
If you decide to go down the electric route then the Bosch / Neff ranges are good well made machines which have a two year warranty without breaking the bank.
UKW Oven guide on the link gives good info http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.p … age&pid=83
The UKW buying guide list is here for further info http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.p … ries&cid=8HTH

Thanks for the links but one of them only explains electric ovens from what I can see.I am wondering whether my oven needs servicing or whether its an inherent weakness, the lack of heat that is.What i wouldnt want to do is buy a replacement and find no discernible improvement.

Hi
They do tend to be single ovens, both Bosch and Neff produce a couple each.

Hi
Looks as though I go the wrong end pf the stick, It seems there is an oven out there where you stick a bowl of water in it so that the steam produced helps to clean it. Not sure if that is right. I know my wife looked at Bosch and Neff so it must be one of those two. ThanksMarch 18, 2008 at 1:30 pm #237076donmaico

Seems as though its a Nef U1422 she looked at which has what they call an Aquacleanse cleaning system whereby one adds some water into the bottom of the oven with some detergent presses a button and the steam produced cleans the oven. Does anyone know if this is effective enough or whether conventional ceramic liners are better? We are basically looking for reliable “does what it says on the tin ” oven without unnecessary features we would never use

Hi
That U1422 is a cracking model, I don`t know about the “aquacleanse” mode as I have yet to see one in action.
