ParticipantToday a visiting engineer told me that the main PCB needed replacing in my Samsung RS21DPSM American fridge freezer….bought from a fridge recycling/reconditioning store for £250 pounds 3 years ago. Its been fine except has needed ice removing (hairdryer) every few months for past year or so. That was fine until this time it would not restart after I finished de-icing.He checked and told me the part was no longer available/obsolete. Online search says there are alternatives to the original which will work.Online search says likely mnfr date is Nov 2006. Korea. A separate search says for pre-June 06 models that part no.DA4100185J would work, and post June 2006 then DA4100388J is most likely to work. Didn’t seem certain!
Could an expert please tell me for sure if there is an alternative Main PCB that would definitely work. Original part no. is DA4100388A.I have checked out the 2 above alternatives and visually they are identical and also visually identical to the original DA4100388A.
Model Code is RS21 DPSM 1/XEU (A). Serial number is 525542BLB01244 V
If there is no alternative that works I’ll need to ditch the fridge. Just paid £84 for a visiting engineer to tell me this! Wish I’d registered on here instead now and looked for answers. However he did make it clear that the problem is almost certainly the PCB. and that’s why I’m here! Thankyou

Thankyou Lawrence. It doesn’t run at all. Doesn’t start. Audible click from relay in PCB but not starting.

Is the click definetly comig from the PCB and not the compressor itself ?

There is a definite click from the PCB. The engineer pointed that out to me and I put my ear to it as he switched power on and off. so no question. I have not done the same with the compressor, and its too late to do it now as I have removed the PCB. Thankyou Lawrence. Are you saying that if the click is coming from the electrical box on the compressor..(which houses another relay and some other component I have forgotten the name of…is that correct) then those electrical components would be the problem not the PCB. Is the ‘click’ sound normal or a sign that the relay is not working?

My apologies Bryan. I could not find an original spec PCB on this site , and no clear answers about alternatives that work. (Engineer had told me the original was disc.) I then found an original on another site and ordered it. I apologise..would have ordered from yourself if I’d seen your post before. However! I’ve fitted it and fridge is still dead! so…where to go from here. paid £120 and it looks like the engineer told me wrong. I may return it . I’ll need to try something else.
