    Hello.

I am trying to replace the door handle on a Samsung WD0804W8E washer dryer.

I didn’t take a good photo of how the spring and latch were orientated before I took it apart, partly because it was broken prior to taking apart.

I can’t figure out how to position the spring.

I have tried looking around on Youtube, and on this site, amongst others. But I can’t work out how to assemble mine based on looking at others.

There are two orientations I have tried, but both leave the latch very loose, I think the spring is meant to keep it firmly in position?

I have attached two photos shown in the attached file. The top one shows how it was before taking it apart (sorry it’s blurry). The second is a way that I have tried but it seems to be different to the first, and even so it leaves the latch loose although the handle is more firm when done like this.

I have already spent hours on this. And help would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

judging by these pictures. it shows the spring clipped into the door handle. if that is correct mechanically there would have to be a second spring pushing the door handle down when the door is together
Have you got another spring ?

    Thanks for your reply.

    There’s only one spring.

I have attached a photo of the parts I have.

can see it more clearly now
have you tries putting door back together as it looks like the door outer pushes the spring arms to tension it

Looking at the photo the 90 degree bent parts of the spring must locate into the white part of the handle. Directly pointing down to the holes in where the pin goes through.

Hello. Thanks for your replies. Tim Downing, your answer worked perfectly.

I am attaching a picture of the correct placement, in case someone else looks at this thread in the future. I found this quite tricky because as I said before, the cover handle was broken, and so when I opened the door the spring wasn’t in place. It requires some force to put the spring into the correct position (I used some snub nosed pliers to place the ends of the spring in the slots on the cover handle), and if you’re not confident you’re doing it the right way, it’s a bit worrying that you’re having to force the spring.

The first two images show the correct placement of the spring, viewed from different angles.

[I have also shown as a third image the bracket behind the door – this comes off really easily and falls into the inside of the machine. If you need to retrieve it, the way I did it was to pull off the outer seal and put my hand down to get it. I used some washing up liquid to help put the seal back on. You can see some black tape that I have temporarily put on to stop it falling off again.]

    Thanks again Tim.
