ParticipantHello,
First, let me thank you for all your well written articles. It was a really instructive and pleasant read. I learned a lot thanks to your guides.
Now, I will introduce my problematic.
My wife and me have a LG washing machine (F84923WHS). I can’t find an english link because we are french and bought it in France.
We are satisfied by the product but our precious starts failing after 6 good years of duty. The price ask for repairs are nearly the price we paid the machine during a discount so… I might look for a new one. Something sturdy. To be honest, I don’t care about more than half modes at my disposal. I like simple things that realises work well. I don’t need useless fonctions or to add clothes during the cycle.
After readings through your article, I’m asking myself “what is a good buy nowaday ?”.
It appears, if the quality remains the same, that I would pay for Miele. Yes. It costs. But if the price means tthat this is well built, that it is made here, in Europe, for me, this is well spent money.
Second opinion, the one I like the less but the one every body seems to tell me, is buying low price machin, like Beko, and change it if it fails. That is a thing I do not appreciate. I like my appliance. I develop some feeling for it. A good machine that is doing a great job is more than welcome at home and is part of the family. I want one I can keep and clean for years to come.In your honest opinion, is Miele keep produce real quality products that will last long ?
I am looking at this model https://www.miele.co.uk/e/w1-front-loading-washing-machine-wwd-120-wcs-8kg-lotus-white-11358800-p Seems simple, sturdy and efficient. Don’t need anything else.Of course, if you have other recommendations, I’m all ears.
Thank you for your help and your assistance.

Moderatormiele, although not to the same standard they had years ago, is still ahead in the build quality stakes.
I am hoping the european right to repair legislation will improve the quality and the repairability of future appliances but in the mean time its buy the best you can otherwise you will do it again soon. scrapped a 2.5 year old machine yesterday but it was a budget machine made by Vestel in Turkey

ParticipantThank you for answering.
Such a shame things and brands doesn’t make same quality products than before. It seems that they do it to have a reputation and, the time they acquire this reputation, they start to cut the cost. Blindly, people still think the brand remains the same but, in reality, this is just not true.
I’m hoping this law will be adopted and for real but I doubt. All is about economy.
It is always sad towaste ressources like this poor machine you saw yesterday. We should always be able to do something.
I will consider Miele for the moment. Hoping it will last.
Take care of you.

I could not agree more. You summed it up perfectly. Excuse me for re-writing your post; take no offence..English is not the easiest one to get spot on as, on occasion, I myself know only too well!.
