ParticipantI need to replace our Whirlpool American-style fridge/freezer (ARZ740) with something that fits into the same cavity – we have kitchen cabinets either side and above. Now I discover that the Whirlpool is hardly a standard size! I’m having trouble finding a manufacturer that makes kit to fit in the same space.
The slot I have available is 172cm high by 88cm wide – quite small by those I have looked at so far.
I’d rather not get another Whirlpool if I can help it – this one has been very poor.
Any tips gratefully received!
Cheers,

Hi Gareth
I`ve checked all the suppliers we use and some we don`t as well. Sorry to say they all seem to be about the 1775 high by 905 wide. Can you gain any extra space or is it time for a makeover.

Curses, but as I suspected. Thanks for looking into it. Unfortunately the kitchen (and the FF) is only 5 years old and cost a bomb… 🙁
Even Whirlpool don’t make them in that size any more.

Just measured again and the maximum size slot I can achieve is 1775H x 865W. That is the actual size of the space, not allowing for any breathing space required around the appliance.

Hi
I’m in a similar position as we would like to put an american style side by side freezer in a slot which is 900 wide exactly.
looking at GEs website http://products.geappliances.com/ApplPr … Dispatcher
they have 22 models that are 32.75 inches wide, which for us brits 😉 is I think approx 832mm wide. They also have 10 that are 33.5 wide (851mm)Does anyone out there know if these GE models are available in the UK?
Cheers

Hi
It would appear not, I googled the PSW23RSWSS which led me to pricerunner among a couple of others. When you enter into the UK option it gives you the UK versions like the PSG29S which you can view here

Ok I’ve done some more digging and found a couple more options
LG do a number of side by sides that are around 890mm wide. I might fit them in, but I’m not sure the doors would open!
Zanussi’s ZI9454X is 856mm wide. Its really a top and bottom, but has four doors so it looks more like an american style fridge freezer. No ice / water dispenser though.
Any opinions on these makes?

Hi
Out of those two brands. No competition go for the Zanussi, it has a better build, will last longer and more importantly a good nationwide service back up should it be required.
