hey need some heads up on this. I’ve emailed ukwhitegoods about which bearing i should use as there are two options p#’s 1604473 and 1604600.
How hard is the job to do and encase they aren’t sure do you know which bearings i need? They aren’t completely dead yet, but have got a good rumble on!

The website said i should measure the inside diameter of the rear bearing, however i cant get to that with out taking it all apart, the outside diameter is 45mm though… managed to do that with a piece of paper and took an imprint!

the model number is w220vw and the serial i think is 24107158

    cheers in advance

This machine has the larger 35mm (1604473) bearings fitted, that is of course if it has a screwed drum.

If it has welded drum then sadly its you that is screwed 😥

Looking at that serial number you may be lucky and have the screwed drum.

Does it have a pump filter behind the kickstrip at the front?

It is indeed a screwed drum! 😀

Well I’ve only been repairing Hotpoint/Creda machines for around 40 years so I could be wrong, 😛 :rolls: but you need 1604473 for a screwed drum in this machine, the 30mm bearings were not fitted to this model.

Which parts enquiry guy was this anyway ?

Don’t bother looking for the filter, that was only fitted to the later, sealed drum, Indesit contaminated models.

TBH. If you are about to undertake a bearing repair which is no easy task on this machine, I would strongly suggest that you attempt to strip it down first before you order anything. You would then need to extract the bearings and examine the drum spider shaft.

If the drum shaft is badly damaged that should be replaced and if you cannot get the old bearings out you will need a complete drum rear half assembly.

    Rule of thumb is:
Alloy drum pulley = 35mm bearing kit 1604473
Plastic drum pulley = 30mm bearing kit 1604600

That is as long as the machine has not been repaired previously of course. 😉

Hi there Guys – firstly great forum full of useful information

I’m also about to undertake a bearing replacement for a creda excel v220vw – Bearing just started to make a rumbling noise, so hopefully shaft is still in tact.
However just like freedom875cc, I would love to know whether I need 35mm or 30mm bearing. I have little free time and would like to attempt this in one sitting if possible! The serial number (I think) is 34128845. its approx 6 years old

I’ve checked the drum and it is split. Any help or advice would be very much appreciated

    Cheers

Thankfully yours has the 35mm bearings & drum shaft.

I would strongly advise against attempting this in one sitting. It is always better to strip it down and examine the drum shaft and also make sure that you are able to get the bearings out of the drum rear half without damaging it.

I have had drum shafts and bearings that I was certain would knock cleanly prove unmovable and others that looked to be a in a mess come out without any problems. You really have to suck it and see.

PS. You have your model number wrong, its a W220VW. 😉

Bearing kit I would also advise changing the drum seal..1603293.

A quick heads up on this.

The plastic pulley has been fitted to some 35mm bearing machines. Unless the drum on a W220VW has been changed then it will have the 35mm bearings fitted originally.

An easier way to tell is by looking at the concrete balance weights.

The 35mm bearing machine has a thinner ( a fraction over 2 inches ), sharp edged weight with a coarse surface.

The 30mm bearing machine has a thicker ( just under 3 inches ) weight, mainly with a smooth surface and rounded edges but some do have the sharp, coarse type, similar to the thinner one on the 35mm machine.

    Thanks iadom for the Help
I’m going to tackle this over the weekend and I’ll take your advise on the drum seal 🙂
