Participanthi there…can anyone help with my do it yourself repair on my very old dishwasher. it is 16 years old but has never broken down (as the advert says ariston goes on and on!) the only problem it has had recently is that water leaks through the bottom of the door. on inspection i noticed that the rubber seal was completely perished and so i managed to find a replacement seal which i then attempted to fit. it is very unclear how the seal fits on and i wonder if there might be anyone on here who has had a similar experience or knows how to find assembly diagrams? i should just add that the replacement rubber was much deeper than the one i took off but i dont think that is a problem?
many thanksMay 17, 2007 at 7:36 am #213588eastlmark

Dont know for certain on that one but the later Aristons have the seal crimped onto the bottom of the inner door panel and is not replacable. They supply a different seal and 3 clips. This seal fits on the lip of the lower inside cavity instead of on the door and is retained by the 3 clips, hence it appears competely different to the old one.

Thanks for you reply…yes the one I took off was ‘crimped on’…..and because the new was is much wider it does suggest it attaches somewhere else entirely. Can you tell me more about the clips…what are they called and can I get hold of some do you think?
I’m posting a link to the replacement seal that I bought in the hope that someone might explain why there is a semi circle cut out of the middle of one edge?http://www.4ourhouse.co.uk/cgi-bin/prod … path=76562
thanks againMay 19, 2007 at 11:26 pm #213590eastlmark

Pretty sure that one will fit on the lip of the bottom “tray” of the dishwasher rather than the door. The kit I had came complete with the clips, maybe this one doesn’t need them. You need to remove the outer door panel to access this. Power off and watch out for sharp edges.
