Reset button/tricity bendix

My problem – the reset button on my tumble drier keeps tripping, is this a problem with the thermostat unit and if so can I get a new unit to replace it.

Model number would help here, but usually the trip goes if you do not allow the machine to finished the last 10 minutes ‘cool down’ period?

Do not shut the dryer off without allowing it to complete this vital final stage!

Other than that, blocked filters or blocked vent hose outlet will cause the same trouble 😉

Model no TM550 Thanks for the advice Martin, checked the outlets, all clear. Took filter out and had a poke around below it and found a lot of crud, i’ve cleaned it out and giving it a run now. Will let you know the outcome. Many thanks ,

thanks for the advice but it’s still tripping out. Checked the site you suggested but that looks nothing like the thermo on my machine, this one has a thermo on the upper end and where the reset button is , is another circular part not unlike the thermo but this is solid whereas the thermo has a center piece which moves.( presumably the bi-metal )

There are two thermostats and one cut-out fitted to this dryer. The red button is the safety cut out, so the fault lies either with the inlet thermostat on the back panel of the machine, or the exhaust thermostat on the ducting under the drum. The element may have an earth leak, which will bypass the thermostats until the safety is tripped.

However, if you don’t have a megger, this is difficult to prove, so perhaps time for some professional help. Click the link below.
