    Re: reset one shot toc

there is a huge difference between shorting out a toc and reseting it, the toc will trip exactly as a new one would, i repeat the most common cause is customer turning off b4 cooling down sequence, (educate customer ) and obviously the engineer would test for other causes of overheating and rectify , my intention was to help, i wish i had never started this subject

I’m not having a dig here, only to educate and to pass on valuable information. I have done some research on this subject in a controlled environment. And, believe me, one shot stats are not designed to be reused. Resetting the stat messes up the calibration.

I have done laboratory tests to check the temperature that TOCs will cut out.

On new components the accuracy is within a degree or two. After resetting the device can be way out of calibration. Sometimes by over 30 degrees C.

This is not just my opinion but actual lab results.

Hey no worries delta, besides as you operate in Outer Mongolia I don’t suppose there’s too many one shot stats chucking about there anyway and compromise has to be the initiative.

As Ulan Bator is around 1,350 metres above sea level the air pressure is a little thin. It could affect the operating temperatures of a bi-metal device by as much as 10 degrees so I’ve been told.

So caution is best advised 😉

P.S What’s the weather like over there anyway? The weatherman said it was hot there yesterday but showers expected today apparently and only 17C 🙁
