KeymasterI know what both Sean and Kevin are on about and we do need more revenue streams but there’s a balance to be had there as we have to bear in mind that we are very heavily reliant on support from within the trade for a lot of what we do and will be doing. In effect we have to keep the guys onside and we cannot alienate them.
We have to revisit the advertising rates pretty sharply, they need re-doing totally. We will get advertisiers when some of what we’re doing falls into place I’m sure, I’m actually a bit miffed that we’ve not had many requests already. But there again, none of us have actually been actively chasing that down have we?
ACH is another revenue stream as well as the obvious one in the form of the appliances.
To be honest, I actually don’t think that we need to hump it more than that and that we can well afford to give some away to the troops, which in turn, feeds that they stay onside with us. That way we totally turn the notion of any form of trade association even hoping to compete with us on its head and leave no room for anyone to have a go at us.

KeymasterRe: Revenue Streams
I for one, am against giving money to the subscribers to keep them on board with our ideas.
I would rather we invest into projects that we can afford, to bring benefits to subs and members, alike.ACH is just such a project.
We have the washer sales to consider and that will require substantial work from all of us to promote and manage. So, for me, priorities are raising UKW funds in order to provide Sean with a wage for his efforts, to raise spares sales and fund ACH. So giving revenue to Subs is not on my immediate agenda and I’m positive its not on the subs either.

KeymasterTo para 1, I’m getting that. 😉
Yes, we need to get more revenue streams and we should be concentrating on ACH and the washer as that will allow a lot more to be done, I agree.
And, TBH, the washer or appliances project could bring more to teh subs anyway, but again that has to be open to everyone.
Now maybe you understand why I never wanted a subscribers section in the first place, it only complicates matters and I could never really see the need for it. Now I just have to deal with it, which is fine, but I just don’t know what to do with it as right now, to me, it seems totally useless and superfluous.
