ParticipantHello Everyone!
Just thought I would start a new topic on the rinsing potential of modern washing machines.
I wondered if anybody has a problem with the poor rinse standard of their washer? I have an old (very old) Bosch and it rinses perfectly. 😀 But my mums modern (8 years old) Siltal washer rinses very badly, towels are like planks of wood 😥 , also had a modern Hotpoint, same issue, their again what can you expect from Merloni sh1te!!!
I have eczema and dermatitis and have no trouble with it when things are washed in the Bosch, but anything washed in the Siltal and I itch all over and come out in a rash 😳 !!
Let me know what you think.

GrahamHi Graham
No, these machines just simply do not use enough water as they have gone too far up the road of being environmentally friendly!! 👿

Hi Oliver,
That’s the trade-off I’m afraid, among others, of getting the energy and use ratings down to what people will accept these days.
The fact is that people will, generally, buy only A rated machines these days and that’ll be that. Manufacturers pander to that as well as pressure from the EU, UK and other governments as well as environmental pressures and we end up with machines that use a lot less water.
Downsides are that they now take longer to wash and don’t rinse as well unless you get one with extra rinse abilities.
It’s the old story, you can’t have your cake and eat it.

Hi K
Couldn’t have put it better myself!!
You are not wrong about the long cycle times, this is true on the Hotpoint 2 hours for a 40 cotton wash with 2 rinses, but the Siltal is less than 1 hour with 3 intensive rinses! The Bosch is 1h 15m for a 40 cotton, also this includes 4 rinses 1/3 up the door, in other words proper ones!!All the best 😉
