ParticipantWent to a call other day at a Mercedes dealer for repair to Dishwasher.
Repair done – no probs, After taking settlement for invoice the company Health & safety officer asked whether I follow Risk Assesment procedures!!!
Stumped for an answer, I replied Not really i just use my common sense.Just wondered if anybody has had problems not following certain procedures
that some companies practise.
Some of my customers include the Local council , Police force and several large organisations but I’ve never been asked this before.Maybe I’ll have to start carrying bollards and safety tape to protect my work area from employees that may encroach . After all most of this work involves dishwashers in the kitchens of these places and people are always popping in to make a coffee or something similar.
Why can’t the ‘elf & safety mob’ leave us all alone? 😡

Bleedin ‘eck, all I’ve got is P/L for £2million.
I’m only a one man outfit as well, Maybe these large organisations should call the manafacturers rather than us.
Think i’ll start turning this sort of work away for my own Health & safety!!

Me too, dishwashers in offices and school staff rooms are a major headache. Not enough room to swing a cat and half the staff come trouping in wanting to get to the fridge and turn the ruddy kettle on. It appears that school staff rooms are permenantly occupied in an all day long ‘coffee break’. Or the dishwasher is slap bang in the middle of a busy office corridor with staff rushing by like an underground station platform.
The more I think about it, the more I realise that I should always carry traffic cones and ‘do not cross tape’ and seek the assistance of their own ‘elf ‘n safety staff to police the area until my work is done….yeah why not? 8)

Yep Ok , so now we have to carry a toolbag, meters, billbooks, spares and maybe a Hazard cone on our head. 😆
