ParticipantSo my Kenwood dishwasher (kid60b16) stopped getting hot. Figured it was the head pump, removed it (was showing 29 on the multimeter, rather than 0.00) and folded and tucked under the heat element was this grey rubber seal. I’ve no idea where it came from, but wondered if anyone else might know?
This is a link to the image (wouldn’t let me upload it): https://ibb.co/zJFHtqc
Also, the dishwasher is just over 3 years old and in that time I’ve had to replace the drain pump oring, due to a leak (about 12 months ago). the waste pipe split about 6 weeks ago and the part on the top tray that allows you to higher and lower it, had the plastic clamps that allow it to snap onto the sides, go brittle and break away – I used an epoxy on that, as I would have has to but the whole tray…..and now the heat pump. Never again will I buy a Kenwood!!
Thanks
Luke

Moderatorheater should not read zero otherwise it would go bang
dont know what the seal is but if not a spare one dropped in by mistake then its got to be something you took apart

My (basic) understanding was to carry out a continuity test with the mutlimeter – displays ‘1’ with no contact and ‘000’ if I tap the probes together. Putting them on the terminals gave me a reading of 29. Which I thought meant it was faulty…being that it should be close to 000? Now hesitant to hit the buy button on the part, as its £60….Dishwasher isn’t getting hot.

No, the seal was folded under the element, trapped. You can see where the heat had got to it.

Sounds like the heater is reading 29 ohms which is likely just fine. I’d be looking at what is controlling it – a relay on the main board perhaps?

ParticipantThere’s a pressure sensor on the heater that goes faulty. So even though you’re getting a good reading via the element, it never gets powered due to the faulty switch.

I assume thats the part fixed to the side of the heat pump. Any way to test it?
