KeymasterI have a 12 year-old Rosieres Bocuse double oven.
Do I start to search out spares to renovate this thing or do I write it off and go for a new oven? I’d hate to trash this beast, but every few months I notice something else that I don’t like . . .
Problems:
RH oven grill element doesn’t work (replaced a year ago with Candy spare)
Oven door seals don’t work properly
Catalytic lining on RH oven has corroded 👿
RH oven throws out fumes when hot – I suspect this is fat etc getting thrown up on to the ceiling of the oven
Base draws have fallen off their runners – not a real problem as I don’t need to use them
Steel plate covering LH gas burner is now welded on
Plate extractor tool has snapped (see previous)
Two of the four RH stove burners don’t light automatically despite thorough cleaningMay 5, 2005 at 12:56 pm #133814kwatt
KeymasterIn all honesty, if you price up the spares required from Candy (who own the Rosieres brand) you’re likely to need oxygen at best or a cardiac unit at worst. 😉

KeymasterRe: Rosieres Bocuse – renovate or dump it?
I might have tracked down a Bocuse-breaker . . .
If that doesn’t work, are there any brands of double oven known for keeping their long-term owners out of the cardiac unit? Any brands to avoid (other than C****)?
Thanks for your response – excellent site.

KeymasterThere’s a few good range cookers out there, namely from Viking and Mercury as well as a couple more, that are built like battleships and will last for decades but, they ain’t cheap. Just like a an AGA, good big cookers cost real money, cut the cost and you cut the quality.
Usual story, you get what you pay for.

I have one two although mine sounds in (slightly) better shape. The knobs on mine are shot so if you do think of breaking it and you have chrome knobs i’m you’re man.

KeymasterThe knobs should still be available but you will need to give us the FULL model number including the letters after the digits. From memory the last tim I ordered some for a customer they were about £20 a pop! 😮

The eBay Bocuse stove I was looking to break up went for more than I was prepared to pay, so now I’m in the process of getting quotes for official parts.
I was tempted though . . . but I knew the howls of protest I’d get from my wife as I lugged all those parts up to the loft.
