ParticipantAbout 6 weeks ago My fridge wouldn’t cool down. After some googling I carefully took the back panel off inside the freezer and defrosted blocks of ice.
Today its happened again. There is ice built up in the freezer, in the lowest part of the ‘vents’ (sorry not quite sure what they are called – the ‘holes’).
I’ve had this fridge freezer for 6 years and have never had problems until now.
I make sure the ‘vents’ are never blocked, i store things so that there is enough room for circulation.
Why does this keep happening? What can be the problem?July 3, 2012 at 6:19 pm #377498Maz83x

i took off both panels from inside the freezer and before i took the wire off (attached to fan and fridge) i switched the fridge back on and the fan wouldn’t move (how long does it take for it to start working? because i literally had the power on for 3-5 seconds).
Also approx 4 inches below where the fan sits it seems as though something was ‘blown’ as its burnt.
i have photo’s but are too big to attach.
I also took off the panel at the back of the fridge and brushed off all the dust from the compressors and all that.July 3, 2012 at 6:41 pm #377499Maz83x

http://i1248.photobucket.com/albums/hh4 … 012082.jpgThe fan inside the freezer is definitely not working. and the burnt marks are 4 inches below it. so i’m not sure what that means. i though the motor of the fan might have blown but now i am not quite sure. i have put the fridge back on now and am going to leave it for a few hours and them check if the compressor at the back is hot or not.

Forget about the burn mark.Thats where they brazed the pipework looks like to me.seen it a few times. The bottom heater looks like it has failed so you will need the bottom heater and also the defrost sensor. If you want the parts e mail me

Thanks for replying r600a.
I didn’t see you message until now and the engineer finally came round earlier. He said it has something to do with the ‘flap’ where the cool air pushes through to the fridge from the freezer. apparently it flipped over or got blocked? I have no idea where that was.
The fan WAS working when he came so i am assuming it comes on and off when it ‘needs’ to?
At the moment the fridge and freezer is cooling down, not quite got to the temp i want it to but it IS cooling down.
Let’s see what happens.
Thanks again. -
