    hi
the rubber seal that attaches to the plastic drum which houses the heater has come away leaving the kitchen flooded. What i would like to know is how they are fixed to the drum at manufacture and what can i seal it with, or what to do
    thanks nobby

Post up the model number and E number?

Do you mean the rubber boss that holds in the heater element?

BOSCH CLASSIXX 1000 washer about 2 years old . Yes its the oblong rubber with metal insert that houses what i presume is the heater element four wires coming of it grey/ blue /earth/brown. I just looked underneath and you could literally pull it out of the drum. The rubber sits on or in the drum recess but how it is fastened to it i cant figure

The rubber seal is a compression fit using the centre nut….this needs to be loosened to allow the rubber to return to shape so that it can be reinserted.

I would be more worried by the fact that it came out in the first place…I have seen this on machines on occasion and nearly always it’s as a result of a foreign object between drum and tub which has collided with the heater or worse still by drum bearing collapse (obvious) 😉

Don’t forget power off before doing anything if you’re having a go yourself :zap:

Could it have been damaged during manufacture/assembly, by over-tightening the centre nut?

(I think Hoover once made such a comment, relating to the plastic tub “New Wave” range).

that crossed my mind how the hell does the thing drop out its only 2 .5 years old and never been thrashed underneath it looks imaculate. The point is they BOSCH arnt going to want to know , but it certainly looks like a fault in assembley. The only point is wejust ran the washer on stinking hot to clear some of the gunge out and that must have not helped

Check under drum and sump to pump hose while you’ve got the front off.
