KeymasterIndeed, my thoughts also.
What it does do though is put in a nice, clear and simple way just what is and isn’t acceptable as well as telling people what will happen is they step out of line.
TBH the biggest gain is that the mods and admin can simply point at it and say, “that’s the rules, if you don’t comply… this is what happens”.

Looks good, adjust it to suit UKW and stick at the top of each forum. Then wait to see how many hits it gets đź’ˇ and how many punters take notice.

Perhaps a bit long but a draft nonetheless….
Forum rules
Welcome to the UK Whitegoods forums.
In order to make your stay as pleasant and constructive as possible please take your time to read through this document, it will help you navigate the pits and traps this community has created for new members. These rules can be changed without notice, any changes will be noted here.
Using the forums and posting your first post
1/ Read up before asking! There are tons of guides, FAQs and each forum has a dedicated Q&A thread with additional info.
1a/ Use the search function before posting. Chances are your question has already been answered.
2/ Respect the netiquette: Please lurk or at least take the time to read a number of other posts and get to know the forum and how it operates before you post.
3/ Keep on topic: Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved, locked or simply be deleted.
4/ Be nice to each other and respect the moderators. Profanity and insults will not be tolerated. If you have a problem with another member turn to the respective moderator and if the moderator can’t help you send an email to admin@ukwhitegoods.co.uk.
Inappropriate posts will be deleted without notice or consultation.
5/ Do not spam. No blatant advertising, it will be deleted as soon as it is seen as will unauthorised affiliate links etc.
6/ No warez, cracks, serials or illegally obtained copyrighted content! Links to content of a questionable nature, asking for, offering, or asking for help/helping to process such content in any way or form is not tolerated.
Posts containing such content will be deleted without notice.7/ Please keep the size of personal images down, especially in signatures.
8/ No cross posting. Post your message once, to the appropriate forum and nowhere else or it will be locked or deleted without warning. Please use the search function and try to find a similar or the same topic and post to THAT thread, do not start another for no reason!
9/ Use a title that describes the content of your post. Don’t use all caps or special characters to draw attention.
10/ Do not send questions pertaining to topics of discussion on this board via personal messages or email to Moderators or Admins, they will be ignored or you will only be re-directed to use the forums.
11/ Don’t post just to increase your number of posts. If you have nothing to say on a certain matter then don’t post. The number of posts on this board has no direct relation to the experience of a member. That said, be cautious of accepting advice from a new member as opposed to a long-term UKW member. We have some control over the membership, but not over the new members. If in doubt, ask.
How NOT to post on this forum
5 minutes after your initial post you reply to your own post writing something like “Why is nobody helping me? I’m sure you know the answer”. Once somebody replies to your thread but doesn’t give you exactly the answer you’ve been expecting you insult them.
12/ The best is what works best for you!
13/ The official language of the forums is English.
14/ Multiple registrations are prohibited and are grounds for immediate account deletion.
15/ Political discussion not directly related to DVD backup issues are prohibited, as is any discussion on religion and religious matters.
16/ Instructions by the moderator team are to be followed.
What you can and can’t expect
17/ Don’t ask for step-by-step instructions on how to replace a part, you won’t get them. We assume that you are capable and that we don’t have to explain absolutely everything, if you don’t understand what you’re being told then call in the professionals.
18/ Don’t think that we offer any warranty on the advice given, we don’t. Any diagnosis that we make cannot be taken as 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} gospel. It will be based on the training and experience of the engineers, and will more likely than not be accurate.
19/ Understand fully that Safety First is the watchword. We will NOT advise any member of the public to perform any sort of “live” testing on any appliance.
20/ Bear in mind that in the forums we are unable to see your appliance. Therefore we rely on you to accurately describe your problem, with the full model number of the appliance and preferably the serial number as well. If you expect accurate help or pointers then please supply this information.
21/ Component failure/testing. Most electrical components, unless visibly blown or burnt, will need testing with an electrical meter. If you are unable to do this, it’s engineer time.
22/ Identification of components. Should a heater problem be identified for instance, it may be necessary to test the heater and thermostat. We CANNOT identify the exact location of these components for you. Our assumption is that you will have some technical knowledge, or your question would not have been posted. There are also legislative reasons for this.
28/ Where a response suggests that technical help would be the best course of action – WE MEAN IT! The combined knowledge of the engineers on the site amounts to thousands of years, so we will tell you this for a reason.
29/ Technical information. This is very often specifically copyright to a given manufacturer and will not be publicly quoted in the forums.
30/ Please do not ask for wiring diagrams, schematics or for us to sort out any wiring problems over the internet. We cannot judge how competent you are nor the future readers of any thread, we’ll try to point you in the right direction but that’s as far as we can legally go.
If you don’t comply with these rules you’ll have to face a set of sanctions.
Needs links added etc., but you get the gist.
K.
