My rather daft hubby put a small brass dish in the dishwasher along with my nearly new cutlery 😯 and it came out with rusty spots all over it. 👿
I cleaned and polished it all but its coming out the same each time I wash it now, even the soup spoons which weren’t even in the original wash are getting these rust spots. 😯

So I’m wondering if the brass dish has contaminated the salt and if so what can I do about it please.

I don’t want to replace the cutlery for it to happen to the new ones.

    Help Please!

    Hi,

No the salt will be okay but it may well have permanently damaged the cutlery I’m afraid through electrolysis. Although by the sounds of it there’s something amiss with the cutlery if you ask me.

Loads of info on the common causes in this section

Thanks K, I thought my lovely cutlery was probably terminal 🙁

I can’t believe how much rust keeps appearing on them, even after I’ve polished them off. I wonder if the 15 year guarantee will still apply? 😕 😕
