New here, Thanks to all on this forum, and the tips, I have replaced all the caps on both the front and rear boards less than £25 and that included a low wattage soldering iron and a solder sucker, success, I have Ice and no clicks and splutter. sadly the fridge is only holding around 11c great for the beer but not for anything else. Freezer holding -18c easily.
😀 I suspected the blower fan inside the back of the freezer, covers off, fan checks out and runs, in the top of the fridge is a motor and a diffuser unit I suspect this is not opening fully, how can I check? how is it controlled, is there a fix? do the stats in the freezer unit control its operation? where can you find a manual.

I wish I had discovered this forum years ago, I had a parts only service plan and in seven years of owning the beast, I have had probably 2 visits a year at £90 a pop, oh the joys of owning a side by side, once again thanks to all here, and if any one has any tips on my small probs, an extra thanks and a Hug.
    Cheers Leo

Update, Fridge not cold enough? Freezer ok. this model only, inside freezer at top back right into roof remove 2 screws and remove cover, now remove plastic vent pipe which feeds into fridge, friction fit, you will now discover the 4 ends which lock the diffuser in the fridge top in place squeeze the pins to release.
Health Safety now remove mains plug!!!!
Now go into fridge, top left, remove vent cover, 1 screw, release feed cable by unclipping plug, now remove diffuser with motor.
    Now comes the exciting part.
With a sharp knife, make sure you have adult supervision, look at polystyrene case and you will see it is glued with silicon all round, cut carefully along the joint and release the 2 halves. you will now have to squeeze the 4 locking pins to release the motor from the diffuser. with any luck the slide mechanism has broken and the part broken off is still there, mine was, slide out the diffuser and fix, I used superglue from the 99p shop (3 tubes a bargain). left it a couple of hours, sanded of the excess glue, reassemble and make sure it slides back and forth freely, reassemble motor. then replace polystyrene case with a little silicon and the reassemble everything back into fridge. and then freezer.
replace mains plug and wait, 1 hour later, my fridge 4.2 C freezer – 18c

Job done award your self a beer.

Of course this fix only works if everything else is ok, but as you see from my 1st post I already had all the problems which come up here all the time, and I have over the years made my contribution to the whirlpool service dept.

FYI. theres a nice guy who sells circuit boards repair kits on Ebay he also sells this diffuser (slider blind). Or you can buy the whole item complete with motor as a spare part if you have lots of cash to spare.
Good luck I hope it works for you.

    Update,

The nice guy on ebay sells some sort of relay kit, which he says cures all sorts of ailments for whirpool fridge/freezers, might be worth a try for some of your probs, also theres a brand new icemaker up for grabs, but not for this model

Just to let all know my beast is working better than ever, wish I had found this forum years ago.

I echo the post by Leonips , brilliant site and once again has come to my rescue.
Leonips I had the same problem as you fridge side not cooling, thanks for posting the instructions, I followed them quite easily and it was exactly as you said, small part of the slide broken off and retained inside / under the motor. Superglue to the rescue and this morning fridge is at a nice 5 degrees and it did not cost me anything other than a little effort , brilliant thank you. Lets hope the slide does not snap again!

Leonids, sir, you are a genius. I can confirm that this fix also works for the S20DRBB32 with the addition of an extra step to remove the big Frost Free panel at the back of the fridge (8 screws behind the blue vent covers- just prise these off).

Fridge now at 5c as requested. Beers chilling nicely. Can’t believe this monster of a fridge was crippled by such a small plastic part snapping!

    All credit to Leonips.

Old thread I know but just wanted to say thanks for your post. I had exactly the problem you described (Was one of the early capacitor changers (2008) and the FF has been fine until recently. The caps are all still working (once I put the correct ones in – Thanks Broders). I too had a broken slider in the diffuser. I fixed it exactly as you said above. I guess that due to sustained hot weather and possibly my young son leaving the door open, the mechanism iced up then when the activator tried to slide the slider it broke. I followed your instructions to the letter. It took 20 minutes of work plus some hours for glue/silicon to dry!. It was easy to do -others should give it a go!

    Nick
