The heating element in my dishwasher is attached to the hot and cold water hoses using adjustable Oetiker clamps.

It seems it may be tricky getting the right clips. And they are expensive. Other sorts of hose clamps have been coming up when I’ve been looking for the Oetiker ones. And other sorts of Oetiker clamps keep coming up as well.

Would I be safe in using any sort of hose clamp? Or are there only certain sorts of clamps you should use on a hot water hose in a home appliance?

A lot of the places selling clamps are motoring and aerospace type things. I guess this is overkill! I don’t want to splash out on something that will feed fuel to a jet engine. I also don’t want to cause a flood by using something too flimsy.

The ones available from motor factors are ideal and are by no means overkill. Any narrow ‘jubilee’ type of clip will do.

    Cheers, iadom. That’s great advice.

Someone else told me wide jubilee clips would do because thin ones might cut into the rubber tubing. I presume you have more direct experience of these things.

Wide ones are often used but are too big and don’t sit into the groove in the rubber hose, thin ones are perfect, the thin ones are the same width,as those horrid clips used originally. I could give you the exact size of the ones I use but all my stock is out of my car and in the garage ATM. Sadly my garage door broke last night and I cannot get into it right now. I fear it may have to be opened with a crowbar which will mean a new door. 😥
