just changed the drum bearings on my Zanussi 1050 washing machine. Unfortunately I have found a wire clip thingy left over which i now recognise as being attached to the element! Im wondering if its safe to keep using the machine without this? – (Its working fine) I guess its there to stop any possibilty of the element touching the inner drum?
If its likely to cause a problem, is it possible to refit without splitting the whole drum again? :boops:

There is a danger of the heater getting caught by the drum. You may be able to fit it by removing the heater and using some long grabber and do it that way

All washing machines have some means of securing the heater, if not the heater will flex up and down and hit the drum, it must be refitted.

As Ladom says it will move its only secured by the rubber bung expanding
    Definitely needs fitting
