Frustrated Glasgow
ParticipantI returned from 2 nights away with work to find that my Mrs has, instead of waiting for me to return – or calling to ask how to do it, decided to put dishwasher salt in the rinse aid compartment. 🙁
She has run 2 x 70° cycles since.
She claims that not much salt found its way into the compartment, but I don’t know if this is correct
Will this be an issue long term, and what can I do about it to minimise any potential damage?
Here are the relevant numbers, although I’m not sure how much they matter given it’s a stupidity issue and not machine specific.
All the numbers from the plate.
Bosch slimline integrated

Z-Nr 00426
Type: SD4P1B SPV40C20GB 015080287295004265
Many thanks for any help on this matter, I appreciate it greatly.

Put some water in it to help break up the salt although, the washes done should have helped that.
Turn the rinse aid up to max if you can adjust it.
It’ll need to run till that clears. It will take a while, many cycles.
Hope for the best.
If not, it’s a new dispenser I’m afraid.

Thanks very much for the advice, Kwatt, I really appreciate it
I have put water into the compartment, but there doesn’t appear to be any way of adjusting the rinse aid setting.
I will run it through a load of cycles, and keep fingers and everything else crossed.
How will I know if it needs a new compartment? Will it be obvious?

Sadly not.
You could try just rinsing the compartment repeatedly till water flows out and hope it clears that way, it should work as all it is is a small tank with a solenoid at the bottom effectively.
So water poured in, I’d hope, would displace what’s in there but it may take a while again.
